If the planning won't kill us..

It has taken us a grand total of 5 different travel agents, 11 hours spent in agencies, copious amounts of time pouring over internet websites sourcing the best ticket available, endless debates, hemming and hawings, and agonising over where to go for our SCAP (medical elective) placements and finally, oh finally, we have it:

StarAlliance's RTW Ticket (Under 26000 miles)

Cost = AUD 2700 + taxes

Flight destinations are as follows (green for Aly, blue for Clara, black for both):

ADL - SIN
ADL - RGN
SIN - RGN
RGN - PRG
(Make own way to MUC)
MUC - JFK
JFK - YVR
YVR - LAX (Make own way to LAX)
LAX - SYD
(Make own way to ADL)

Much credit has to go to Emily from Student Flights on Swanston St, Melbourne VIC who was a tremendous help. Her impeccable customer service and patience never wavered despite our indecisiveness and time-consuming deliberations, and I cannot stress the role she played in helping us find the flight ticket combination that best suited us, even if it meant keying in various flight combinations to work out differences in tax and mileage.

Things to do/get:

  1. Travel insurance
  2. Eurail passes and reservations
  3. Visas
  4. Accomodation
  5. Plan itinerary for sightseeing
  6. Find a hospital placement for SCAPs
  7. Vaccinations
